See the Escort MK I RS1600 in the CTEK SEMA Booth
As the anticipation builds for the 2019 SEMA show, we're proud to tell you more details about what to expect when you visit CTEK at Booth #24313.
The newest reveal is the 1970 Ford Escort MK I RS1600 which was driven by Paul Walker in Fast & Furious 6.
Fast & Furious Scene
This rally car was featured in a scene where Walker's character, Brian O'Conner, jumps the MK I off a pile of bridge debris to reach his friend, Roman Pearce. Pearce is in a 1969 Ford Mustang Fastback and is in danger of being run over by Owen Shaw's tank. The Escort makes the jump with only a slight amount of cosmetic damage, Roman makes it into the MK I, and they drive safely away on to their next breathtaking stunt.
Escort MK I Stats
The Ford Escort MK I RS1600 was built from 1968-1978 and sold in Ireland and the United Kingdom. This version of the popular automobile was designed as a rally car and upgraded with a 638 Lingenfeller Ford Big Block and a K&N Cold Air Intake. The rally look was completed with a Dupont Finishes Bright Blue paint job, white racing stripes, custom rally lights, and Toyo tires mounted on Wheeler 8-spoke wheels.
Rally History
The MK I Escorts made their mark in the rally world. During the late 1960s and early 70s, they were practically unbeatable. Versions of the car were raced by Alan Mann Racing, Australian racer Frank Gardner, and famously won the 1970 London to Mexico World Cup Rally.
